No Limits Training Group and the Zebra Collective are working together to facilitate this two-day workshop that will get to the heart of these important questions:
- How can we best tackle change in our own lives?
- How can we best support a person who is dealing with change?

The workshop is designed for all people looking at change. It will be helpful to people who work alongside people who are dealing with change, often in very difficult circumstances. It will be useful, for example, for workers in social care, mental health, general health, and community work.

The two days will be split into four sections, representing four phases in working alongside a person through change:
1. Getting together
2. The journey
3. The end of the journey (and of the helping relationship)
4. Reflection

We know that endings and reflection are commonly neglected, to the detriment of the person looking for help. So here we’re giving equal weight to all four phases, to reflect their equal importance and to ensure each is considered comprehensively through this workshop.

We will be drawing from approaches we’ve found to work well, including:
- Solution-focused communication: a powerful approach to promote change, easily adapted to a helping conversation in any context. This model underpins the whole workshop.
- Listening to and sharing stories; narrative approaches and exploring meaning.
- The conscious use of self in the helping role and the change process.
- Carl Rogers’ core conditions for helping work: 50 years old and as relevant as ever.

And we’ll be exploring some of the difficult questions we think matter:
- Empowerment: how do we reclaim this clichéd slogan and generate practical ideas that really work?
- Spotting the dodgy moments: how? And what about doing something about it once we’ve spotted them?
- Laughter: the best medicine? And a formula for change?
- Love: where does love fit into the relationship between helping worker and the person being helped?
- Language: which words harm, and which offer hope and strength?

Expect a very active learning experience comprising plenty of variety and some surprises.

By the end of this workshop:
- You will have reflected on and reviewed the core beliefs and value base that underpin your work.
- You will have acquired some valuable, practical tools to take into your helping work and your life.
- Your enthusiasm, passion and creativity will have been stimulated and you will be buzzing with ideas to share with the people you help, your colleagues and your friends.
- You will have renewed energy for your work and your life.
- You will be clearer, more competent and more confident in your helping role and in your own life.
- You will have zest for change.
